imho, this is a very timely and accurate article and a very important book.

The book contains no narrative or anecdotal accounts, just 371 pages of charts and graphs that slice and dice the geography and timing of the incidents and the various shapes that witnesses reported: flying circles, spheres, triangles, discs, ovals, cigars.

My notes from the article:

--lots of detail about the sightings included.
.
--California: 15,836 reports ...
.
--Washington State ranked 4th .... so population is not a big factor.
.
--County breakdown revealed what we already knew--more sightings occur in more rural, wilderness areas.
.
I suspect that Tom DeLong and William Tompkins et al's efforts will continue to unfold in the near future with more and more . . . unprecedented data points.

Looks to me like more sightings are in the months when people are outside more; ie the warmer months in places where it gets cold.  In more mild places the sightings are closer to equal from month to month.  Anyway, I don't study this stuff, but I did have a "sighting" when I was 14.

That IS a correlation others have made. However, IIRC, it's not a completely adequate explanation for those stats. I forget why.
