Marine Corps packs are failing in the Arctic

Marines training in the Arctic region of Norway last year reported that many of the Corps’ standard-issue FILBE pack frames were cracking and breaking because of the intense cold and harsh winter environment.

The cold weather-related problems have caught the Corps by surprise and could stall plans to next year issue new ruck frames for all Marines.

Maybe the US Army or the US Air Force or the US Navy has a model that works fine.

Of even the Norwegian, Swedish, German, Finnish, British forces might even have an adequate article of equipment.

While our troops deserve the best, I believe the US military and US government in general "suffers" from massive funding opportunities, on projects with little or no marginal value.

*Maybe there is a material in another unrelated industry, such as carbon fiber for vehicles. Or for aircraft. Or for water vessels.

High strength, withstands big temperature swings, etc.

If you listen to liberals, the pack won't be needed in a year or two anyway because the entire Arctic will have thawed.  Of course they've been saying its imminent for the past 20 years.
