Last August, the intel world was abuzz following the news that a previously unknown hacker collective, "The Shadow Brokers" had hacked and released legitimate hacking tools from the NSA's own special-ops entity, the "Equation Group", with initial speculation emerging that the Russians may have penetrated the US spy agency as suggested by none other than Edward Snowden. The Shadow Brokers released a bunch of the organization's hacking tools, and were asking for 1 million bitcoin (around $568 million at the time) to release more files, however failed to find a buyer.........TheShadowBrokers has is having little of each as our auction was an apparent failure. Be considering this our form of protest. NSA just lost control of its Top Secret arsenal of digital weapons; hackers leaked it. 1) https://t.co/zleVbyBtE3 2) https://t.co/aKwdiNbrJA — Edward Snowden (@Snowden) April 8, 2017
The group's post also included a discursive rant against President Donald Trump, including criticism of the recent U.S. airstrike on a Syrian air base, Trump's attacks on some congressional Republicans and his decision to remove adviser Stephen Bannon from the National Security Council.Continued: https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2017/04/08/us/ap-us-hacker-group-leak.html
NY Times reports on this too.Isn't it interesting, per crimes, hacking into banks, the Russians are often thought responsible. And now, North Korea is thought to have stolen millions. This speaks to the corruption of these countries to me.
