Damn it, Melanie didn't come!  Trump is alone.   :boring:

It's floodmaggedon in the NY/NJ area.

She's better off to stay at home with her son, toasty warm and dry.

Maybe with a cup of hot cocoa.

IMHO, this outfit is to 'disguise' her true height when adjacent to her hubby.

Look at the hem touching the floor and those flats/how heels, etc..

And I agree, it's not something most women might have chosen to wear...compared to what we've been treated to thus far.

I call bullshit. Those look like heels to me and Donny is 6'2 so I do not believe there is a need to disguise anything.

A little difficult to see here but she has 13 buttons on her slacks --- like navy sailors pants. The buttons represent the original 13 states. So it's casual Friday with a patriotic touch.   ^-^

Looking a little too deep into the meaning of a pair of slacks, aren't we?

Nope.  Most everything the FLOTUS wears for such events from the color to the style has a meaning.  It's called attention to detail.   ^-^

Ah. I see it now. The gold necklace is a call out to the American historical drama The A-Team's Mr T.

Her attention to detail is spooky.

She is wearing a stacked heel shoe ... probably 2 inches.  The President, by some reports, is 6'3"...so he has no problem standing next to his wife while she's wearing high heels.

You have come far, grasshopper, but still have a way to go.  The gold necklace enhances the outfit ... and it is simply gorgeous.

@Frank Cannon I guess y'all haven't heard why Mt. T wore those chains.
Quote
The reason why I wear gold: I wear gold for three reasons. One, when Jesus was born, three wise men came from the east, one brought frankenscence, one brought myrrh, the other one brought gold. The second reason I wear gold is I can afford it. The third reason I wear it, it's symbolic of my African heritage. When my ancestors came from Africa, they were shackled by our neck, our wrists and our ankles in steel chains. I've turned those steel chains into gold to symbolize the fact that I'm still a slave, only my price tag is higher.

You gotta watch that symbolism thingy, you can get carried away.

I just think she has a nice necklace.

What camera?  Which shoes?  I was guessing the shoes with the black slacks were two inches .... where's the proof they're thee?

The white heels with the black pants. I don't need proof. I just know.

She could have taken a ride down here where it was sunny and nice!  The kid is old enough to stay home with the Secret Service for a couple of hours, lol.

This is fantasy, so can I have the pink dress style made with the blue fabric?  That midnight color is so deep you could fall into it.

@Frank Cannon @DCPatriot

I was referring to the shoes she was wearing with the 'Sailor' hemmed pants that virtually touched the floor.

In that picture, the height differential was noticeable, so I incorrectly assumed she wore flats or...like you said, 2 in heels.

But Frank posted a ton a pictures showing the Donald at 6ft 5in.   So it couldn't be the heels....as I said she didn't want to be taller than him.

Didn't know he was THAT tall.   A big asset in controlling a room.

Trump’s Ralph Lauren Collection trousers were a subtle nod to the nation’s servicemen and women, featuring a sailor-inspired button placket. She went the route of classic all-American glamour where accessories were concerned: a chunky, chain-link gold necklace, brooch-adorned white stilettos, and her signature diamond ring.

Maybe it's the angle, but I'm not a fan of this. I must say, this is a first for me. The woman could wear a trash bag and look great!
