Around late 2015, the horrific video above went viral. It depicted Texan William Crum violently swerving into an overtaking motorbike near Granbury, resulting in the rider and a pillion passenger hitting the deck hard.

18 months on, 69-year-old has at last been sentenced for his actions. Despite claiming to have momentarily lost control of the car due to being bitten by a spider (yes, really), Crum has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for “two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,” his lawyer confirmed last week. He’s been behind bars since his arrest on 19 October 2015, shortly after the incident....

This is but one reason why I quit riding motorcycles... :shrug:

What an ahole.  Self appointed traffic cop.  He was attempting to justify nearly killing those kids because they were passing on double yellow... 22222frying pan

Is it illegal to pass on a double yellow in Texas? Up here in the Northeast, unless it is specifically posted no passing a motorist can pass whenever, wherever.

I just had a conversation with a bicyclist who rides on rural roads frequently, and he talked about how many drivers try to run him off the road, or come up behind him and lay on the horn to scare him into losing control and driving into the ditch.

I'm not sure I'd ride either a motorcycle or a bike without a bike lane these days.

Too many crazies out there.....

If the Douchebags on the bikes weren't passing in a no passing zone AND speeding they wouldn't have been clipped by the guy that just got "bitten by a spider".

It's strange... Squirrels and bunny rabbits always seem to jump out in front of me while I am being tailgated by some little punk driving daddy's SUV.

If that a$$hole hadn't intentionally hit them, they would have been just fine. Most of the people I have ridden motorcycles with would not be so mellow about attempted murder.
