These awe-inspiring pictures show South Korean marines practicing a landing operation as a part of their annual military training with US troops.

Amphibious assault vehicles fired smoke bombs into the air which covered the movements of the marines as they sprinted onto the beach in Pohang, South Korea.

The crack troops crawled along the sand peering into their rifle scopes as others bearing mortars came ashore.

Are there Trump haters who even object to these exercises? I mean, big deal if someone with nuclear weapons threatens us is the message I seemed to have gotten.

So, for you more military minded, does it make sense to train ground troops for NK defense?

Careful you're going to be labeled a Trump hater for asking a relevant question. Personally I think trying to intimidate Lil Kim is a waste of time and effort.

In my opinion there are no good options in a war with NK. Lil Kim will happily sacrifice every last man woman and child in the country knowing full well he can't win. At the same time he has the capability and will to launch a massive rocket and artillery attack on the south that would kill untold thousands almost immediately. In the end we would get the bill for rebuilding both countries.

We've been doing so since 1953 so the question is if we should continue.

Yes, that is the question.  What is your opinion?

According to his autobiography, Chuck Yeager broke his tailbone when he joined a training jump onto a South Korean beach.

That we should meet our current commitments while considering what should be our future commitments.

Well, I'm not as "military minded" as some distinguished members of this forum, but any conflict with the NORKs is gonna be "on the ground" for certain.

They have many many thousands of soldiers in uniform, and they'll use them.

A real, "old-style" conflict -- a fight to the finish this time around.
