Democrats accuse Gorsuch of hiding his legal views

The Supreme Court nominee is avoiding specifics 'like no one I have ever seen before'

Senate Democrats accused Neil Gorsuch of not being forthcoming with his views Wednesday, sparking a quick backlash from Republicans who said Democrats were holding the Supreme Court nominee to an unfair standard.

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the Judiciary Committee’s top Democrat, quizzed Gorsuch early at the second day of questioning over his belief that the Constitution should be interpreted strictly as when it was written — pressing him repeatedly on what his originalist philosophy means for gay rights and access to abortion.

Unlike them, his legal views are a matter of public record. His private views are the things they should be poking at - see if he lets his personal opinion over-ride the law (He doesn't, or doesn't seem to. As near dammit neutral a judge as I've ever seen).

His personal views are completely immaterial, so long as he rules on cases according to the understood meaning of the Constitution and the laws that apply.
