Parliament in lockdown: Police open fire outside Westminster and shoot knife-wielding man amid reports of explosion and 'at least 12 pedestrians mowed down on bridge'

    Several shots have been fired at the House of Commons in Westminster
    At least three people have been hit and emergency teams are on the scene
    Reports aslo suggest a car ploughed into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge
    The Prime Minister has been evacuated and staff told to stay inside

A knife-wielding attacker was shot by armed police in the grounds of Parliament today after pedestrians were mowed down on Westminster Bridge.

An intruder with a knife managed to break into the grounds of the Houses of Parliament and stabbed a police officer before he was shot, reports suggest.

More than 10 people are said to have been hit by a car on Westminster Bridge after a vehicle described as a '4x4' reportedly drove into pedestrians and cyclists.

Three injured people were also visible on the floor outside Parliament and the Palace was placed on an immediate lock down.

Prime Minister Theresa May is said to have been bundled into a car by a plain-clothes police officer and driven quickly from the scene.

My son, the director of documentary films, lives there and works in that area when he edits film.  I have sent him an email to see where he is and if he is okay.  I did that about 20 minutes ago, and have no answer yet.

Got answer from son, Wayne.  He says he is not in that area today.  Said he is the middle of some work and has a one hour deadline and he would write later.  If what he says later is about this attack, will post it.

I concur. As someone who has lived in Europe and the M.E., it is true that when Europe writes "Asians" or "youths", they are referring to Muslims.

But I'm not going to turn this tragedy into some discussion on laws, I do believe such trite statements on knife control should have been responded too.

The term "Asian" is as meaningful as the term "European".  Japanese, Taiwanese, Singaporeans, South Korean, etc. are all Asians.

This Doesn't help in identifying what nationality or country of origin the perp is from.

True enough. If the attacker had been Tunisian or Moroccan they would have said African. Pretty much how they've always done it.
