You mean like how he said Cruz' dad was involved with Kennedy's assassination? The list of these sort of things is long... He spews crap because it works for him. Because it usually injures his opponents and that's all that matters to him. His need to win exceeds the need for truth.

And I believe it was his good buddy at the National Enquirer that led with the lie in the first place.  Almost like it was a requested "expose" (lie).

The politics of personal destruction and dirty tactics is usually a leftist Democrat strategy.   One that liberals use as a general rule (all is fair in love, war and politiks).

Well I think in his mind he was just repeating what was in the Inquirer... He loves the "some people are saying ... but I'm not saying ..." line to say it without "saying it"... And when someone has little or no regard for the truth because it suits their purposes at the time, I don't understand why some people think he'll just stop doing it or that he has any credibility left.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

No, he doesn't have credibility - that's why I give him credit for what he does right and denounce him for the things he does wrong.  He's on a case-by-case basis.

Someone should insist, yea, make him, stop twitting.

You'd think his staff would insist, or would find another line of work, or would at least refuse to answer questions from the media.  They beclown themselves when they try to explain his tweets.

IOW, like any other foul politician.  Well, he did choose to wallow in that muck, so he has earned the disdain he receives.  It's a bit of a lateral move, if you will, from being a real estate tycoon to being a politician, neither up nor down.  And yes, he's on a case-by-case basis.  Good analogy.

I agree with that with this caveat, I'll give him credit when he actually achieves doing some things right. Got to actually do it to get credit. Talk and action are not the same thing, particularly with Trump.

Comey has been loved by Conservatives and hated by Conservatives.
Comey has been loved by liberals and hated by liberals.

As best I can tell, that's a good endorsement.

What's amazing about all this is that it's entirely Trump's own fault and was 100% unnecessary. Trump hasn't even had a major crisis yet.

Depends on why he's loved and hated by both sides.  Being hated by both sides is not the best endorsement for somebody who isn't supposed to be on one.

He's not an "average guy". He's the most powerful man in the world and with that go great responsibilities. Dan Rather's fake but accurate is not a suitable standard.

I did not mean to imply that Trump's less than accurate characterizations are acceptable - if not controlled it will hobble his administration for sure - but on the other hand lets not imply that some earth shaking impeachable offense was committed here. Its small potatoes. Very small.

I'm sure that everyone in the close Trump circle is praying (if they pray) that Trump stop tweeting and shut up but apparently, there is no way to stop him.

I'm trying very hard to cut him some slack because I hate his enemies so much more than I hate him ...but he makes it hard.

I learned the hard way -- ironically with a different narcissist named Donald -- that it's time to say "enough" when you realize you're making excuses for the inexcusable.  This isn't some jerk who screwed up on the lawn mowing.... this is the President of the United States.  Time to stop cutting him slack.

You realize you're saying this about the President of the United States, right?  Presidents aren't supposed to be judged on a case-by-case basis -- they're too powerful and therefore too dangerous for that.

Really?  And, since he IS the pres., what is it you suggest doing?

And, hopefully he will learn that the "devil is in the details" and make sure he can back up what he says BEFORE he says it.

I thought for a while that he was learning.  He did super well on his address to the congress.  I think we are kidding ourselves if we think he will stop doing what he does.

Off subject but I heard the press secretary say "very, very" this morning.  He must have been hanging out with Trump.

Ghastly, isn't it?

About the only options available involve praying for the scales to fall from the eyes of his blind defenders.....

Political people don't find "another line of work."  They cannot stop him unless they tie him to a chair.  My advice to them is to just say, I don't comment on Trump's tweets."

There are a few I've seen suggest simply hating every single thing he does is the right thing to do, no matter what.

Don't play that game with me, Sanguine.  You know very well there is a coterie of his fanbois and fangurlz on this forum who excuse and cheer for everything Trump does.

I have literally never seen anything like this. I don't think anybody has.

I have no idea where we will be in one year.

I do know that the way it is going is just not sustainable. Trump will break or we will.
