 Comey confronts an angry Congress

The FBI director testifies Monday as members of both parties accuse him of being less than forthcoming about Russia-related probes.

He upended the presidential election — twice. Now Democrats are pinning their hopes on the man many of them blame for Hillary Clinton’s loss to deliver a major blow to Donald Trump’s credibility.

FBI Director James Comey is set to face probing questions Monday about Russia’s involvement in the presidential election at a highly anticipated public appearance before the House Intelligence Committee. He's expected to be asked to confirm or deny the existence of criminal investigations into Trump or his campaign aides over ties to Moscow, though several committee members said Comey will likely decline to comment because doing so could undermine active probes.

I can confirm: The FBI.. is investigating Russian interference in the US election, and that includes... whether there was any coordination.

So far this is the major headline which I am sure will be twisted by various news outlets.....my question is why did Comey announce there is an investigation...common practice is the FBI doesn't release who or what they are investigating.

To be fair, they can't not investigate the links, once they've been so publicly alleged.

Hard to say how the Russkis could have tilted the election to Trump in the vast majority of US counties, though -- aside from Hillary's e-mails, which she shouldn't have had on her illegal private server in the first place, for this very reason....

Reporters do not have a specific legal exception to publishing classified information. They just aren't prosecuted. Most don't know this.

Yeah wasn't the Ellsberg going to be prosecuted for publishing the Pentagon papers? And that Senator from Alaska read them on floor of the House (where you are constitutionally protected from saying whatever you wanted).
