Socialism’s Rising Popularity Threatens America’s Future

Quote
Too many of us have forgotten the lessons of the Cold War.

Headlines about “the end of the republic” litter political commentary across the political landscape. They usually mark the beginning of a discussion of the merits of Donald Trump as president of the United States, but his ascendency is not the leading sign of a collapse of American society. For that, see a recent poll indicating a tectonic shift occurring in the political preferences of U.S. adults. When you consider current trends in cultural norms and widely held beliefs, you will see that we are headed toward the end of the American experiment.

The American Culture and Faith Institute recently conducted a survey of adults 18 and older. It shows not only how deeply divided Americans are on some issues but also how their view of the nation stands in many cases in stark contrast to our nation’s founding principles. Most Americans (58 percent) see themselves as politically moderate, while a quarter identify as conservative, and 17 percent as liberal. Those who were both socially and fiscally conservative, the group tracked by the ACFI in greatest detail, were 6 percent of the population.

But those differences don’t reveal the greatest divide and danger to America’s future. “The most alarming result, according to [George] Barna, was that four out of every ten adults say they prefer socialism to capitalism,” the ACFI noted in its commentary on the poll. “That is a large minority,” Barna said, “and it includes a majority of the liberals — who will be pushing for a completely different economic model to dominate our nation. That is the stuff of civil wars. It ought to set off alarm bells among more traditionally-oriented leaders across the nation.’” That 40 percent of Americans now prefer socialism to capitalism could spell major change to the policies advanced by legislators and political leaders and to the interpretations of judges ruling on the application of new and pre-existing laws.

What does anyone expect after we've nationalist the classroom and imported millions of low skilled, low educated individuals totally comfortable with socialism to share your once free country?

When are we going to stop allowing radical leftists to indoctrinate our kids in schools and colleges.... teaching them to embrace a system they've never had to live under (thank God) and yet encouraging them to embrace it and push for it in this country?  There needs to be some major pushback against this BS by the silent majority of Americans that do NOT want to see America go down the Socialist (Communist w/a smiley face) toilet like other nations have (See: Venezuela).
No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

My hunch its a syndrome called Sounds Good On Paper.  They tell us Cuba is awesome and so is Venezuela.  Yet they've never been threatened with imprisonment for teaching mathematics or waited half a day in line for a loaf of bread.

So when they tell us Socialism is super neato I say, "Prove it".  Show us the hard evidence.

Exactly.   And they've never had to work their way through years and years of college to become a doctor, only to be told by their god, government, what they can or can NOT charge patients, to the point that you can't even afford a new pair of shoes under the commie regime....true fact/story as stated by my ex-Spanish teacher in Houston that was from Cuba.  She admitted that they got tricked and fooled by Castro, but by then it was too late to do anything about it but escape, if lucky.

Are you kidding?  We read it right here in this board by those who push Socialism/Marxism?Communism and then insist that they are 'true compassionate Conservatives'.

We've already lost this war in the culture.

Socialism won.

Just look at the reactions you get when articulating Constitutional principles or tearing down constructs of Socialism being pushed.

Then you have formerly self-ascribed 'voices of Conservatism', justifying and promoting government-run healthcare simply because their party and their guy are all for it.

Nope - I think those opposed to Socialism in this country are a minority.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775
