LEHIGH ACRES, FL -
A Lee County woman says she was choked, unconscious, and undressed by a man who tried to rape her in her own home.
The man may have got away with it had there not been a snake in the woman's bathroom just minutes before.
The Lehigh Acres woman called Lee County deputies on Friday after she found a snake in her bathroom.
Reports say shortly after, 28-year-old Malcolm Porter came up behind her and grabbed her by the neck.
She told deputies he choked her and demanded she had sex with him.
"It's crazy, knowing I live somewhat close. It's like I have to keep my guards up," said Kaitlin Soeder, who lives in the neighborhood.
She said she was shocked to hear the man forced himself on her.
"It definitely is a wake-up call that things like this happen all the time."
The report says Porter took off the woman's underwear and threatened to kill her.
The victim told Porter to get condoms from another room. When he got off her, she ran outside to deputies responding to the snake call.
