Liberal groups want Manchin removed from Dem leadership

Several liberal groups plan to deliver a petition to Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) Thursday morning calling on him to remove Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) from party leadership.

The groups argue that Manchin’s lack of resistance to President Trump warrants his removal as the vice chairman of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.

I don't have a problem with it in and of itself.  They're doing the same thing conservative groups and voters do at time.

Granted, I'm sure they're more hysterical and have worse ideas for the country than conservatives do.

I gotta believe though that Manchin at some point will indeed leave the Democrat party.

If Manchin switched parties right now, he would arguably become a "more reliable Republican vote" than, say, Susan Collins of Maine.

Time for Mr. Trump and others in the party to start the recruiting efforts!

That's probably true. He's fairly good on the Second Amendment, anyway, and heaven knows Collins is no Republican.

If he jumps to Republican, he'd lower the IQ on both sides of the aisle.

Well said. He's really not very bright. He's still not the stupidest U.S. Senator, though. After John D. Rockefeller IV (D-NYC via Japan but nominally WV) decided not to run again, that title was assumed by Pennsylvania's Bob Casey.

Casey is definitely an idiot (and only won because he shares a name with his well-respected father, a former governor of PA), but I think you're wrong about him being the stupidest Senator.  After all, Patty Murray's still there...
