This is why Trump’s announcement about 90 F-35s was a big deal

The F-35 is the most expensive military project in history. On Feb. 3, 2017, the Trump Administration announced that 90 F-35As would be bought.

According to a report by the Daily Caller, the $8.5 billion deal saved taxpayers almost $740 million in costs — a cost of $94 million per aircraft.

Yes it is.  The F22 is tops, but supposedly super high maintenance to keep the stealth coating up to snuff.  The F22 has astronomical cost per flight hour.

The F-35 is a moneypit that should have been scrapped a long time ago.  It seems that the military didn't learn it's lesson with the first "di it all" multi service plane the F-111.

It doesn't carry enough ammo to provide ground support.

The F-16 and F-15 out fly it in dogfights.

The software that runs the thing is so buggy that most days they don't even get off the ground.

There are so many cost overruns in this project that someone needs to be prosecuted for it.

Right now the F-35 is making the SGT York AA gun look like a success story for the ages.

Yeah, but he knocked the price down to only $94,000,000.00 each.  Winning!

No, he saved 94 million per aircraft. That isn't even close to the price.

From: https://warisboring.com/how-much-does-an-f-35-actually-cost-21f95d239398#.h3h1qkv6n

Quote
A single Air Force F-35A costs a whopping $148 million. One Marine Corps F-35B costs an unbelievable $251 million. A lone Navy F-35C costs a mind-boggling $337 million.
He lowered the average cost per unit by ordering more units, which spreads the R&D costs over more units.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
