Trump's Strange Coziness With the Kremlin

Excerpt-

Given his record, the fact that Trump denies something automatically raises strong suspicions that it's true. Maybe it's not. But here's the crucial question: If Trump were in fact being directed by Putin, would he be doing anything different from what he has done?

Excellent analysis from the beginning of the Trump candidacy until now From Townhall.  Wonder if they are the next to be on Trumps Fake News list?
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Nothing strange in desiring constructive dialog. Reagan worked hard towards that goal.

What is key is what Donald doesn't say.

It may in fact be true that he has no investments in Russia.  But indeed, Donald Jr. once said they had a lot of Russian investor money coming into their interests and holdings.

Odd that an adversarial press doesn't push on that particular point but just lets him blather on.

It was clear the way he wouldn't issue a flat denial during the press conference. He just deflected to partially relevant points.

Better than just flat-out lying, I guess.

The American people deserve to know to what extent Russia's ties are to Trump.

There surely is a schmoozing factor.

There is a lot of pressure being applied to congress over this and despite the fantasies to the contrary its not all coming from the left. My congressman personally knows me and knows I'm not just another liberal out to get Trump.

More than just 'a few' of us expect some sort of explanation.

Report: Senate Intel Committee asks agencies to keep records related to Russian probe

By Rebecca Savransky - 02/19/17 03:15 PM EST

The Senate Intelligence Committee is requesting that agencies preserve all materials that could tie into the committee's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The Associated Press reported Sunday, citing a congressional aide, that the committee had sent formal requests to more than a dozen organizations, agencies and individuals requesting the materials related to the probe into the Russian meddling be preserved.

The intelligence panel's chairman, Richard Burr (R-N.C.), and vice chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.) sent letters out Friday, according to the AP.

FBI Director James Comey on Friday met with lawmakers from the Senate Intelligence Committee behind closed doors, amid an uproar over alleged contacts between members of President Trump's campaign and Russian officials.

Makes you wonder even about the spy ship off the coast.

Once they've exhausted all other options the GOP will do the right thing.

As I have often said, I regard rapprochement with Russia as one of the few obvious upsides to a Trump presidency.  However, I can't help but think there is a joke here:

EXTERIOR -- RED SQUARE, MOSCOW

Well dressed businessman walking in company with a man in the uniform of a Russian Army colonel cross the square.
They stop.  The businessman turns to camera.

                 BUSINESSMAN (grinning)
Is true, Trump has no investments in Mother Russia.  But Mother Russia has investments in Trump.

                 RUSSIAN ARMY COLONEL
     (snickers)

Fade to black.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Considering the many years of costly, fearful cold war, I give Reagan credit for calming things down.

Younger people cannot imagine the tension over the years.

Funny I didn't recall Reagan praising Russia.

Reagan was tough with Gorbachev, not in love with him.
