CNN reporter to Trump: 'Just for the record, I don't hate you'
By Lisa Hagen - 02/16/17 02:04 PM EST

CNN reporter Jim Acosta assured President Trump that him and his network don’t “hate” him as Trump railed against the media as “fake news."

"Just for the record, we don't hate you. I don't hate you," Acosta said, prefacing his question to Trump at the Thursday press conference.

Trump quipped back, “Ask Jeff Zucker how he got his job, okay?” adding that CNN’s ratings aren’t “good right now.”

I listened to the entire thing.  It was a thing a beauty watching him trash the media over and over and calling CNN...not fake news anymore...but VERY FAKE NEWS...lol.  Was quite funny.

I saw some of it at lunch. Trump was having fun.
Good stuff.
I may not have been a big Trump guy, but I figured when he got elected, the press conferences would be fun to watch.
This one sure was.

This was his best press conference yet - he is just hitting his stride.

He handled the slimy press like a pro.

Trump's problem is that they really do hate him. They will do anything and everything to destroy him. Nothing is off the table. Their hate is not based on who he is or what he does. They hate him because he is a Republican. If he was still a Democrat, they would love him. We have left the world of Reason.

My millennial daughter has started getting all her political information from comedy shows, like many of her friends. They think that is news. They prefer it because it is simple to understand and funny. We have found that asking her to reason through her argument or hear a differing opinion is like asking her to strangle the cats to death. Complete....emotional....freakout. Her hatred is not grounded in evidence but in obedience to GroupThink. She vehemently hates it with the fires of a thousand Hells even if she only vaguely understands it. She follows the Collective.

Her younger brother will at least try to form a chain of data to support his position.

That was without a doubt the most compelling presidential press conference I have seen.

I must say I am conflicted when it comes to Trump and his combativeness with the press.  On one level I wish he would be more presidential, confidence-inspiring and intelligent.  On the other, it is a pleasure to watch the media get skewered in a manner I would never have thought possible by a Republican president.

I watched CNN right after the news conference, and sure enough the people on that network verified everything Trump said about them.  It was all anti-Trump all the time.

Listening to Jim say that was like listening to a drunk claim they don't drink at an intervention. CNN is hate Trump 24/7.

Trump is pushing their buttons.

Both Fox and CNN losing their minds. Just wish their exploding heads would stay exploded.

Some of the press is combative, some is not.  The press is as fragmented and polarized as the public.  If your media outlet is targeting younger, urban consumers then bashing Trump is good business.  So it doesn't surprise me that they go after Trump, any more than it surprised me that Fox, Drudge and the right wing media went after Obama.

I do think they are chasing windmills with the Russian collusion on the election meme.  But they and their audiences believe it, so it is a story they will continue to pursue.

@mystery-ak

Was it a fairly long presser?  Dana Loesch aired it, and at first I thought Trump sounded tired, sort of.  Then I had to go do a couple of things and while I was getting  a late shower, I turned it back on and I heard him say, "Chuck Schumer...or some other lightweight" and I LOL'd.

That was funny.

@CatherineofAragon
About an hour and ten minutes (I just checked the video).

I haven't watched it all, but it looks like he's behaving better than he often has.  Great to see!

Someone on Twitter just said that no matter what your opinion of it was, there's simply no way these types of events are sustainable for 4 years.

I had to agree. But I have idea what will happen.
