President Donald Trump is returning to the trail.

The president will hold a rally Saturday afternoon at a hangar in Melbourne, Florida. It will be his first campaign-style rally since his so-called thank-you tour during the transition period to states he won in November.

“Join me in Florida this Saturday at 5pm for a rally at the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport!” Trump tweeted from his personal Twitter handle, along with a link for supporters to RSVP.

He never appears to be governing. That's why he's constantly campaigning......  My theory is, .....has positioned himself as an outsider, not attached to anything that's happening. What he has made happen, he positions himself as opposed to it, and against it, and fighting for everybody else to overcome what he has done, and that's one of the reasons why the constant campaign, so he doesn't appear to be governing, so he doesn't appear to be part of Washington. He appears to have this mysterious, powerful bunch of forces that are opposing him and stopping him from creating jobs, and stopping him from giving people proper health care, and stopping them from making their home values go up, and he's constantly out there fighting it. And he does that by constantly campaigning, and never seen to be governing. So all of these scandals he calls them — they're not distraction, they're real. But he likes them because they detract from the absolute reality of what has happened to this country as a result of his policies.- Rush Limbaugh

No, he isn't talking about Trump, or is he?

I guess the cult of personality needs some spiffing up and reinforcement; this week has been a little disappointing and their god needs to "prove" to them that his feet aren't made of the clay they're made of.

We have far bigger issues to deal with than for Trump to insult the press and other random personal enemies of his in front of a live audience.

Give Trump a break. He is suffering a lot of "butt hurt" this week. His ego needs refreshment. If he needs a clapping seal event let him have one. He's earned it.

I for one think his supporters need them some kind of pep rally about now, it's looked rather bleak for a few days.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Washington didn't have to deal with a country filled with idiots either. I can't blame him for rallying the support his own party won't give him.

That is what people wanted isn't it? A president that took it to the people?

He needs to hold a press conference, not a rally.   Just sayin....

Obama held a victory tour.....  But then he was no Washington.

Obama campaigned the whole 8 years he was in office.  No one told him he already won the presidency  -- twice.

I wonder if the TV channels will cover Trump's never ending campaign with as much zeal as they did Obama's.

If they do, it looks like I won't be watching much news for the next 4 years.

Personally, I agree. However the people that elected him want rallies and TV shows. Many of them want entertainment, not information. So the only way he can communicate and maintain support is the way he always has. His party is against him, the Dems are against him and his own voters are getting cold feet when they shouldn't.

I agree with his taking it to the people. Unfortunately 'the people' are today, largely idiots, and you have to communicate at their level.

Agreed ... though I don't recall any other president holding 'pep rallies' ... he needs to keep his supporters on his side!

IMHO, what he needs to do is sit down, in the oval office, in front of cameras, prime time, and clearly explain and educate the public on what he is doing and why.

No platitudes, no name calling, no 'bigly', 'yuge', or 'great'. Just clear specific goals, reasons, and plans.

Use the bully pulpit effectively to win people over and explain the case, not further divide people, call names, and go after those he sees are enemies.

Explain why he thinks he is right and why people should agree with it. Be the super-salesman he claims to be. Win the deal with the public (and the deal now is not winning an election but winning hearts and minds).

10 years ago..hell, 10 weeks ago I'd have agreed. But now we realize that most people need a drool cup surgically grafted to their chins. Most wouldnt watch and the media would completely bastardize what he said and repost their highly twisted interp on farcebook and twiter, leaving the drooling masses no further ahead and in fact worse off.

I doubt the alphabets would carry it live if he did talk directly to the people.  I think having a rally will be newsworthy as the media will believe it to be laughable.  He will get his face on the news with faithful in the background to remind those with the long knives that he has the people behind him that won't stand for it if they take him out.  It seems odd, but Trump has done many odd things that I thought was outright suicidal that worked for him.  I'm not going to say it is an unwise move at this point.

Rush explained this thoroughly the other day.

Trump has nobody but his voters and followers.  By holding town hall rallies, he fights back against the tide of Democrats in front of the cameras....the CNN/MSNBC anchors lying with their fake news...the CIA/NSA inbreds knocking off a threat to Clinton/Obama in Flynn's takedown...leaks from the White House and State Department....the intelligence communtiy.

Why not hold a rally?  One that will definitely be covered...where he can get his message and agenda explained.

Yup. Otherwise he shows that he isn't willing to speak to anyone but those who already follow him.
