President Donald Trump and his administration have been in a non-stop fight with several media outlets, and recent polling gives the administration reason to continue this effort.

Two polls out Tuesday, from Emerson College and SurveyUSA, show that registered voters both trust and like Trump more than the media. The Emerson College poll found that 49 percent of voters find Trump truthful, while just 39 percent of voters believe the news media is truthful.

If Trump sent flowers to the NY Slimes, they would run a story about how he's ruining the environment by cutting down the foliage.

That means to the real poll numbers are probably 59 - 29 in Trump's favor. :silly:

Poll are fake when negative, true when positive. @rangerrebew logic.

Meanwhile he's 4 points underwater in the RCP polling average:

All polls are not fake.  All polls must be looked at with a jaundice eye.  Nobody should make law or live their life according to a poll.

Are these the same polls that favored Hillary to win by 99%?

Didn't Trump say that all unfavorable polls are "fake"?

I think it was specific to his immigration/border Executive Order.

What's interesting about that is that he may actually be right.  There is a pretty enormous spread among those polls, and I'd imagine he's got internal polling that shows those actions are pretty popular.  In essence, he thinks that polls critical of his immigration plan are actually trying to shape opinion rather than just report it, and so are not to be trusted.

Seems to me Trump wants conflicting polls. They allow for a good game of three card Monty. Other things that come to mind are "Triangulation."

The media skips from one major 'crisis' in camp Trump, back and forth every time he tweets, takes a dump or draws a breath. In doing so, they are creating a case of media fatigue in the public. In other words, the media is unintentionally conditioning the public to not trust them as they constantly fllitter back and forth trying to ramp up the drama level to 'top' the 'crisis' that came before.

In the process, he signs an EO or the House/Senate actually manages to get something done right and there just isn't enough mindspace in the public consciousness to fixate on any one thing, but more importantly, the media is proving unable to fixate them on any one thing and hammer it home like they used to. People are rapidly burning out.

Drama is like meth. It's real intense and you need more and more of it to get off. But eventually meth burns out the receptors and leaves a shell of a person that just doesn't care anymore. It just sits and drools. If we had a real media reporting fairly and independently, this would be one hell of a problem. But as we don't have that media to begin with, "What difference, at this point, does it make?"
