Romney Could Run For Senate In 2018

Former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney could run for the United States Senate in 2018, according to a Friday interview with Deseret news.

The former presidential candidate will not commit to a Senate run, but refuses to rule out the possibility.

“I don’t have any predictions on what I might do. I’m not going to open a door and I’m not going to close a door. All doors are open,” Romney said after mentioning the 2018 Senate race.

“I’m not looking forward to anything political at the national level,” Mitt Romney said. “We’ve got some races coming up here in Utah that are going to be interesting. We’ll see what happens on that front.”

Romney could supplant Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch if he decided not to run for re-election. Hatch declared during the 2012 Senate race that he would not run again if elected, but members of the Nevada Republican Party reportedly urged the aging senator to postpone retirement in order to hedge against a potential Democratic challenger.

Romney also had some positive things to say about President Donald Trump as well, urging Democrats and Republicans alike to come together under the new administration.

“I expressed honestly what my belief was with regards to temperament and character. Now the time has come for us to recognize we have a new president and we have hopes he will be successful leading our country,” Romney said.

Actually, I like Mitt ... give him a Senate seat as perhaps his last political aspiration; he'll be 71 in 2018.  Youth isn't exactly on his side.

Rather see Mitt run against Warren in MA. She is vulnerable as all hell.

Sure. Maybe he can torpedo Ted Cruz and Mike Lee from the inside instead of the sidelines. I always sit in rapt wonder how it is that out of about 100,000,000 potential people, so many 'conservatives' are hellbent on approving/electing the guy that profited from dead baby parts his own laws created.

I don't know.  After the way he begged for a slider in the top of the eighth in game 7 of the '01 World Series.  Clearly a cutter was the right ball.  Make no mistake, Shilling went for the cutter, as his team demanded, and he got the K on the board.

Looking at his record I'd say no. He was buddy buddy with the left and people like Ted Kennedy and IIRC, Mass is still screwed by the economics of his tenure. So I wouldn't look to him for a sudden shift in his past performance.

Last thing we need is a pissing contest between Donald Trump and Mitt Romney.

I'm not sure Mitt is happy he wasn't a finalist in a cabinet position.

I still prefer Romney's position on Obamacare over any Republican in office now.

Repeal, and then get the federal government the hell out of the health insurance industry.

   I might favor it if he ran against Warren in MA a Liberal seat, forever, but to deny the US Senate a much needed Conservative would be suicidal at best, perhaps McMullin should take THAT Seat if Orrin retires.
