I agree. How dare we get some news from anyone else but CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, the NY Times or the Washington Post.  I'm particular about where I get my fake news from.

I tend to look for more than one site to verify if a story is accurate.

Furthermore, at least one of those sites should have a good reputation for crafting news.

It should also not use adjectives used to elicit an emotional response.

Three brothers who managed office information technology for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers were abruptly relieved of their duties on suspicion that they accessed congressional computers without permission.

Brothers Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

Three members of the intelligence panel and five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.

House conservatives want to investigate three IT employees, all brothers, suspected of compromising the networks of Democrats on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Conservative Republicans — disappointed in House Democrats for hushing up the issue and in the media for failing to widely report the story — hope the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (HOGR) will examine how House Democratic offices allowed the potential breach in national security information.

The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group was first to identify suspects Abid, Imran and Jamal Awan, who are under a U.S. Capitol Police criminal investigation for their use of congressional IT systems and alleged theft and over-billing of computer equipment. “I’m for an investigation — I hope to do it,” Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan said Tuesday during Conversations with Conservatives on Capitol Hill. Ron DeSantis, chairman of HOGR’s Subcommittee on National Security.

Not seen it anywhere. They have been referred to in a few stories as "shared employees," but that isn't definitive.

I'd incline to contract employees, myself, simply because one (Abid) has a criminal record, which should have prevented him being hired.

I would guess that they were GS employees. But I want to know that for sure because if they WERE GS that opens up a whole new can of worms!

Edit to add: And if they were GS employees that would explain why we don't know!

Jamal M Awan, a current staffer, earned an estimated salary of $157,577 as an Information Technology through the most recent House pay period. This was 3.1 times greater than the median for a House IT administrator.

Awan has been employed in Congress since Q2 '14 (about 1 year and 10 months), and has also been a staffer for Rep. David Loebsack (D-IA2), Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA33), and Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ9).
