Kellyanne Conway has taken “alternative facts” to a new level.

During a Thursday interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, the counselor to the president defended President Trump’s travel ban related to seven majority-Muslim countries. At one point, Conway made a reference to two Iraqi refugees whom she described as the masterminds behind “the Bowling Green massacre.”

“Most people don’t know that because it didn’t get covered,” Conway said.

The Bowling Green massacre didn’t get covered because it didn’t happen. There has never been a terrorist attack in Bowling Green, Ky., carried out by Iraqi refugees or anyone else.

This article might not exactly be fake news but it does qualify as worthless Mickey Mouse gotcha journalism. Not a whole lot better.

Considering that she's got a history of just this sort of thing, it stands to reason that one would take her pronouncement like her past ones.  A line of pure bull that she'll push like a bull in a china shop.
Sounds like she misspoke to me. No story.

Very grateful no one seriously hurt in the Louvre attack ...or the (completely fake) Bowling Green Massacre. Please don't make up attacks.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

Well, since you bring it up, I have to question why so much 'fake news' is coming out. In the long run, such would only undermine the media which convey it, with little short term gain. Or is it to the benefit of the 'sources' to ensure that the media appear even less reliable than they have been considered in the past?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Think it's simpler than that.

All three sides have beefs - Trump, because he's fighting some serious headwinds. The Dems because Trump gives them gas. And the media because they resent the proles ignoring their "betters" during the election. All three groups have hit on the same tactic...

Fake news is so prominent because the MSM has burned their credibility so severely people are turning to other sources figuring it can be no worse. When no one can be trusted anything goes. In short it has become an information free for all with few points of firm reference.

Not quite. Kellyanne didn't exactly pull Bowling Green out of her ass, as some terrorists were from there or lived there apparently, but she sure didn't help Trump out on this one.

Yep! But Trump does much more than just give them gas! His presence in the White House has knocked them off their hold on the government teat completely and that hold is literally their lifeline!  Their fundraising dies without it!

But since she's a member of the royal court, her lying is completely acceptable.

Sounds to me like she merely misspoke.  Happens all the time.  Trying to spin it as anything more is merely making mountains out of molehills and a waste of time and space.  Why focus on the minutia?  Haven't we got bigger issues to deal with in this country right now?  Good grief.
