It is that day of the year again, so perhaps a general thread on music from that era. Some of this history and songs we may know all to well. If one wishes to go even to the '40s; a lot of that music is very good too. It's all good.

It's all good. Pookie is really an in-house expert on this. --------------
It's all good. Pookie is really an in-house expert on this. --------------I also opened this up because all of the songs are worthy but what is amazing are the many songs that we may not know. We know most of Elvis', I was listening to him last night but there were many other artists back in the day.
@Wingnut: You were talking about Hoyt Axton, I found out that Hoyt's mother co-wrote "Heartbreak Hotel" (Elvis); so he comes from a musical family. Hoyt and his mom are in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
So true! Pook's the Man!

She hasn’t sung a note in a year or too and her regular appearances at veteran reunions have come to an end. In 2015 Dame Vera Lynn wasn’t well enough to attend the 70th anniversary celebration of VE Day. But she is still among us and on 20 March she qualifies for a telegram from Her Majesty. To celebrate, her original label Decca have dusted off some of the old tunes from the war and subjected them to a spot of spit and polish.http://www.theartsdesk.com/new-music/cd-vera-lynn-vera-lynn-100
Bump on this, nostalgic thread and I likea lot of that music, I was even listening to music from the 20s and 30s for a spell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK72A_eV8LgSoundies, kind of nice. This is kind of nice too; Salsa or whatever is the correct description, some enjoyable moments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4rz10uCQfAAgain, marching a bit to a different drummer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBZJlVeEVeI
