Executive order eliminating immigrant benefits would shock, distress South Florida

Excerpt:

You know that brother you brought from Cuba — signed his visa petition, pledged to sponsor him — then sent on his merry way to carve a new life in the United States?

The Trump administration thinks he’s your burden, not that of the American taxpayers, and they’re going to make you, the sponsor, pay for all of his expenses until he can become the ideal self-sufficient immigrant. So long to the public benefits that legal immigrants are now allowed to access.

Start praying that your loved one doesn’t fall on hard times or require medical care not covered by insurance — just two scenarios that could send anyone into bankruptcy. If you’re the immigrant’s sponsor, the financial responsibility for his misfortune wouldn’t only be the immigrant’s but yours, too.

If Trump signs the executive order, only U.S. citizens wealthy enough to support relatives — through good times and bad — would be entitled to family reunification. Who else can foot a hospital bill that in this country runs into the thousands of dollars the moment you walk in? What if the immigrant loses a job and needs to ask for cash assistance? The sponsor would have to provide the help, not the government.

I would laugh but this isn't funny.  Do immigrants even know that they have been sucking up benefits that U.S. citizens cannot get?  A few years ago I had to go to the Emergency.  It cost me over 6,000 dollars just to have them tell me what was wrong.  Not even treat it.  I had to make payments and the hospital determined the amount because they wouldn't finance beyond a certain amount of months.  It hurt believe me.  I don't make much.

Reading this article I realized why they come.  Because of the entitlements.  Who wouldn't if you could get free health, free dentist, food stamps, cash assistance and free phone.  While U.S citizens deny themselves from going to the doctor because they didn't have insurance or they can't pay the deductible.

Forgive me but I don't feel sorry.  If you want your relatives to come encourage them to apply for the proper documents to get here legally.   Invite them into your home.  It is your family not mine.  Feed them and encourage them to get employed.  Period.

You are not entitled to someone else paying your way!

Well if those Cuban nationals get sick they can just go back to the best healthcare that humanity ever witnessed in their homeland.....at least that's what the MSM told me.

Nah. I got a good flavor for the piece from the excerpt. Any further reading of that pablum probably would make me stupider.

Entire zip codes in one of the wealthiest counties in the nation....our own Montgomery County, Maryland...would become ghost towns.

Real estate values will swing dramatically...businesses will close...it'll look like North Avenue in Baltimore.  Or post-war Beirut.

"Shock", "distress ", and a photo of a guy wailing, rending his garments, etc.
It's all about unbridled emotion for a populace of hysterics.

Try going to any country in the world and getting all indignant because they won't support you.

No one has a right to come here or a right to be taken care of if they do.

I totally agree with you.   Just pointing out reasons why certain 'Sanctuary States/Cities' can't tax the people in order to pay for the cost of immigrant welfare, food-stamps. Section 8 housing, etc..

If families are going to be deported while the news shows their teenaged son on the evening news as an "All County All-Star" athlete, .....it's not the kind of optics Donald Trump wants or needs.

Yep. All the piggies - from Capitol Hill to Little Havana - with their snouts in the trough like things just the way they are.

It's getting harder and harder every day for the Party People posing as conservatives to keep hating Trump in public. Pretty soon they are going to have to register as Dims to find a shoulder to cry on.

We are some 54 years down the road from passage of LBJ's Great Society programs!  Anyone who thinks that the hell they have wrought can be unwound by a presidential edict is very deluded!  It's going to take at least 30 years to get that done if a concerted effort is made. MUCH longer otherwise!

@DCPatriot

The HORRORS! Young Chadsworth may have to cut the lawn and was the family min-van,and Tiffany may have to wash and iron her own clothes!

Thousands of career civil service agents hired solely to guide foreigners though the system to take the maximum amount of money from the taxpayers will be fired as their agencies shut down their doors, organized religions that profit greatly from herding their flocks through the wilds of government bureaucracies may have to start demanding more donations if people don't want to go to hell when they die, cops, EMT's ,court employees, jail employees, prison employees, etc, etc, etc will get laid off as demand for them plummets, and on and on and on.

HOW CAN THEY SURVIVE LIVING LIKE THAT?

Maybe it's time we stopped worrying about optics so much and laying out the case, fact by fact to the American people.  We can't afford to take care of illegals.

All this boils down to is:

1. There are benefits that this country provides.
2. Conservatives don't want all who are in this country, legally, to be able to partake.

Ergo, these benefits are for only the right people.  The good people.  Not those nasty bad ones.

Au contraire.  Anyone that resides in this country LEGALLY should be able to partake of said benefits.  Anyone here illegally should not be able to.  It ain't rocket science.

Actually, they should all just head to Canada.  I hear that Trudeau has an "open door" policy there.

Precisely.

Good people=self-supporting people. Productive contributors.  Nasty bad ones=leeches, unproductive takers.

If YOU want to sponsor and support an individual or family, feel free to do so. But keep out of my wallet. We already have too many lay-abouts.

Or join the Peace Corps of become a missionary. Think of all the good you could do in one of the peoples' paradise countries, where they live the same as they did, 2,500 years ago. They could truly use YOUR charity.

General observation FWIW: My experience is that supposed conservatives that make excuses for abortion usually have a close friend/family member who had or might need one.

...That people opposed to border fences/deportation usually have illegals as friends/neighbors/employees or profit from a business directly or through association

...And that people that twist the arguments involving the above to blame Americans for not footing the bill for them are often quite liberal when the curtain gets pulled back across the board.

Likewise, people who make excuses for why 'their' Muslims are 'different' usually have muslim friends and family.

The one thing you can add up in this whole equation is that they arent remotely interested in whats good for their country or their fellow Americans. Their ACTIONS show where their support lies. And with whom.
