Schumer: I have 'serious doubts' about Trump's Supreme Court nominee


Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he has "serious doubts" about President Donald Trump's nominee to succeed the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, the first sign of what is likely to be a contentious confirmation battle.

"Now more than ever, we need a Supreme Court Justice who is independent, eschews ideology, who will preserve our democracy, protect fundamental rights, and will stand up to a President who has already shown a willingness to bend the Constitution," Schumer said in a statement.

The democrats should not be allowed to get away with playing the victim in this drama - in refusing Garlands nomination the GOP was simply following the democrats demands for previous nominations, to wit 1) not considering SCOTUS nominations in the last year of a president's term and 2) insisting on an ideological match for the person being replaced.

These bastards cannot be allowed to continually have it all ways.

You know, I have serious doubts that Chuck's loyalties are with America. With all the screaming liberals do about Russia, has anyone checked his bank account? They are famous for blaming their own crimes on others. Or check China for that matter. Or any Muslim state. Or the mob.

There are the 10 seats held by Democrats up for reelection in 2018 who represent states that Trump won in November. If Democrats obstruct Trump’s nominee..... they could take an ass whooping in the midterms and further erode the party’s power in the Senate.

They might vote "aye" to a cloture vote.

Not for the nomination per se.

Thats good enough.  All we need is cloture.  the republicans can pass the rest without dem support.
