Acting attorney general orders DOJ to not defend Trump's executive action

Acting Attorney General Sally Yates sent a letter Monday ordering the Justice Department not to defend President Trump’s executive order on immigration and refugees in court, the New York Times reports.

Yates, a holdover from the Obama administration, reportedly said she’s responsible for ensuring that the positions the department takes in court remain consistent with the institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right.

The White House did not immediately comment on Yates' order.

It's probably a matter of logistics and practicality.   There are too many people in positions of influence to deal with in the first few days of his administration.

I can understand it's hard/unworkable to get them ALL to the last liberal POS, but Good lord, he had to know that the DOJ was going to be his biggest opponent after the DNC itself. There are not that many top level positions to vet and find a moderate to conservative to replace the lib with.

Cleaning up the mess Odumbo left will be like Hercules cleaning the stables.   There are red flags everywhere he looks right now.   He just has to prioritize as best he can.

No we're not talking the political appointees...those are easy to get rid of.

The hard part...and even Reagan couldn't do this...is to get rid of the career worker bees that hang on no matter who is in office...the ones that are there through 3 or four presidents.

He didn't have to fire her. Remember no one is automagically entitled to ascend up a notch when their boss leaves (and I dunno where she was in the pecking order anyway. IMO Trump could have as easily put in a (at minimum Republican) rather than a Democrat/Obama holdover. Continuity is NOT what America needs considering that Obama's people wrecked the country to begin with.

I think Trump's people didn't do their homework or he made a bad 'deal' with someone that installed her into the job.
