Trump’s Exclusion of Aliens from Specific Countries Is Legal
Arguments to the contrary ignore the Constitution and misstate federal law.
By Andrew C. McCarthy — January 28, 2017

On Friday, President Donald Trump issued an executive order calling for heightened vetting of certain foreign nationals seeking entry into the United States. The order temporarily suspends entry by the nationals of seven Muslim-majority countries: Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. It is to last for 90 days, while heightened vetting procedures are developed.

The order has predictably prompted intense protest from critics of immigration restrictions (most of whom are also critics of Trump). At the New York Times, the Cato Institute’s David J. Bier claims the temporary suspension is illegal because, in his view, it flouts the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. This contention is meritless, both constitutionally and as a matter of statutory law.

Something I posted on another thread that many people have pointed out today.

It isn't that that he banned travel from some countries (although the existing contracted green card/visa issue is another story).

It is about the Middle East countries that he excluded from this ban.  Hopefully it is just coincidental that he excluded countries from this ban that he has business interests.

I dont have a problem with a 90 day moratorium on the issuance of new visa's to citizens of these countries and a few more in the Middle east.

The problem I have is with cutting off the LPR's who followed all the rules, stood in line and fully complied with all American law.

I know many immigrants, including Iranians, who have been here 20 years of more. They own houses, businesses and have kids in school. If they happened to be out of the country and this barred them from returning to their homes, business and family I'd say that could never happen in this Country, but in Trump's Amerika anything is possible...
