Trump signs three more executive orders
By Nikita Vladimirov - 01/28/17 04:55 PM EST

President Trump signed three executive orders on Saturday afternoon in front of cameras in the Oval Office.

The immediate text of the orders wasn't immediately available, but a senior administration official said one was expected to outline a plan to reorganize the National Security Council.

Trump said another order dealt with a 5-year lobbying ban on administration officials. The senior administration official said it also included a lifetime ban on administration officials lobbying for a foreign country.

Hasn't the right been screaming for the last 8 years that executive orders were bad, unconstitutional, etc.

I'm finding the hypocrisy truly amazing but I suppose that is what to expect when both sides don't have a moral compass and are simply playing a game for their own personal gratification and financial enrichment :shrug:

In his first week in office, President Donald Trump has signed six executive orders, one more than President Barack Obama during the same time period of his first term.

Presidents had traditionally used executive orders to cover administrative tasks such as naming parks or establishing commissions. In recent years, however, presidents have used the power to press through broader measures, as Obama did with orders on immigration and gun control.

Numbers on executive orders vary widely.

Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a whopping 3,522 executive actions during his 12 years as president; Ronald Reagan issued 381 from 1981-1989; Clinton 364 from 1993-2001; and George W. Bush 291 from 2001-2009.

During this eight years in office, Obama signed 277 executive orders.

Overall, Obama ranks 16th among presidents in total number of executive orders issued and 21st in the average number issued per year, according to data analyzed by Pew Research.

Trump's four executive orders as of Friday, Jan. 27 include:
Beginning the process of overturning the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare;
Expediting environmental reviews and approvals for high-profile infrastructure projects;
Start work on the planning and eventual construction of a 1,900-mile long wall at the southern border with Mexico; add 5,000 new border protection officers;
Address additional immigration issues, including the elimination of federal funds for "sanctuary cities" which refuse to hand over or detain undocumented immigrants. Order also calls for hiring of 10,000 additional immigration officers.
Launch a review of military assets to determine equipment and traiing upgrades, address future threats.
Allow for increased vetting of refugees from seven predominately Muslim countries.

In comparison, Obama's seven days after his swearing in on Jan. 20, 2009 included the following executive orders:
Regulations regarding the release of presidential records;
Ban on gifts from lobbyists and setting limits for former employees related to lobbying activities;
Ensured lawful interrogation of foreign detainees;
Order closure of Guantanamo Bay detention center;
Ordered review of policies related to treatment of foreign detainees.

Obama signed no executive orders in the first week of his second term, which started Jan. 20, 2013, but put his name to six orders in December 2012 covering everything from the establishment of a Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force to setting pay rates for federal employees. The president didn't sign another Executive Order - this one dealing with cybersecurity - until Feb. 12, 2013.

President George W. Bush's first executive orders didn't come until he'd been in office for nine days. Both orders deal with the establishment of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.
