WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration is scrutinizing studies and data published by scientists at the Environmental Protection Agency, while new work is under a "temporary hold" before it can be released.

The communications director for President Donald Trump's transition team at EPA, Doug Ericksen, said Wednesday the review extends to all existing content on the federal agency's website, including details of scientific evidence showing that the Earth's climate is warming and man-made carbon emissions are to blame.

Ericksen clarified his earlier statements he made to The Associated Press, which reported that the Trump administration was mandating that any studies or data from EPA scientists undergo review by political appointees before they can be released to the public. He said he was speaking about existing scientific information on the EPA website that is under review by members of the Trump administration's transition team.

He said new work by the agency's scientists is subject to the same "temporary hold" as other kinds of public releases, which he said would likely be lifted by Friday. He said there was no mandate to subject studies or data to political review.

TL/DR:

Trump now requires all scientific data to be reviewed by his political appointees prior to release.

The EPA does not, nor has it ever done science. It is a purely political animal so there is no issue with one pol reviewing another...other than the fact it should be eliminated and all that wasted money put elsewhere.

It has become a Rouge agency.  It needs wholesale firings and then closure.

Then prosecution. For everything from national security issues to fraud.

Shouldn't science be under the scrutiny of well, scientists, not 'political staff'? That's what causes messes and corruption in the first place, politics corrupting science.

I feel like we are on a yuge pendulum swinging in extreme opposite directions, the further you pull it one way, the further it flies the other way, but the movement is still the same nonetheless.

Qh Absolutely! But the EPA does not have scientists doing science. they have political operatives with degrees in sciences doing propaganda.

Remember, these are the people that labeled co2 a pollutant, mud puddles as wetlands and said cooling causes warming.

What science?  Seems to me there is very little of that involved in anything that agency does!

I sat in on a call today with some EPA guys.  They're having a meltdown.  They tried to sound well-reasoned and authoritative, but they're having a cow.  And, the dripping condescension, OMG!

Thank your lucky stars it was just a phone call and not a face to face meeting!

On a side note, I think it's high time that all the various scientific organizations get reorganized so that they're under one department and the far too many redundancies get eliminated.

Ladies and gentlemen, let us parse this phenomenon.

1/ No real world experience.
2/ Know everything.
3/ Minimal empathy.
4/ Minimal common sense.
5/ Bad at hiding and controlling anger.
6/ Cover confusion with pretension and polysyllables.
7/ Total conformity.

We have our answer.

By all indications, the EPA is a long running high school prank.
