It's one thing for the feds to say that since some of  the money for school lunches comes from D.C., we're going to put a few rules in place, e.g., provide a nutritious meal (but the local districts can figure out what that means in practice, in light of their own budgetary restraints). Bottom line is that the program, like just about everything the feds do, is out of control.  **nononono*

Meals should be nutritional but removing vending machines is over the top.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

The problem is that "a few guidelines" can mean very different things to different people.  But one problem with what the Feds did was they regulate the entirety of the meal, not just the portion paid for by federal dollars.  If the Feds want to say "you can't spend federal money on soda, candy, or chips", fine.  But when they try to regulate the entire meal, that's a real problem.  There has to be a baseline assumption that -- shocker -- school districts and cooks will make a reasonable effort to provide decent meals.
