Secretary of State John Kerry won't be attending President-elect Trump's inauguration on Friday, according to the State Department.

"The secretary will not attend the inauguration," a State Department official told the Washington Examiner.

The official had no comment on why Kerry wouldn't attend.

Like many other Cabinet and senior-level Obama administration officials, Kerry has been working with the incoming Trump team to ensure a smooth transition to a new government, even if he isn't a supporter of Trump's agenda.

This week, Kerry said Trump made an "inappropriate" intervention into foreign policy by criticizing German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

"I thought frankly it was inappropriate for a president-elect of the United States to be stepping into the politics of other countries in a quite direct manner," Kerry said.

In one sense none of us should care - and Trump ought to rejoice that none of these cretins have to show face.

On the other hand, this does continue to push the crafted meme that Trump's election was "illegitimate" - which the Left will now use before every sentence.
