Is the Philippines' communist insurgency nearly over?
By Mark Wilson BBC Monitoring

The Philippines government is due to begin peace talks with communist rebels on 18 January which could end one of Asia's longest insurgencies.

President Rodrigo Duterte has said he wants to "walk the extra mile" to achieve peace, in a conflict which has claimed an estimated 30,000 lives since the 1960s. BBC Monitoring's Mark Wilson examines the challenges ahead.
Who are the rebels?

"The Philippines government is due to begin peace talks with communist rebels on 18 January which could end one of Asia's longest insurgencies."

islam's "insurgency" is NEVER "over".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudna:
A hudna (from the Arabic هدنة meaning "calm" or "quiet") is a truce or armistice. It is sometimes mistranslated as "cease-fire". ... The noun from each of these is hudna."

What this really is, is a period during which muslims can regroup and reconsolidate their power -- after which they'll attack once more.

All I know is that OUR Communist insurgency is almost over.
Only the more conspicuous phase. They are still rotting minds and bodies at schools and universities across the country, and are disseminated throughout every agency and elected body. While the infection has been stopped from rapid spread, it is far from defeated. In time, in remission, perhaps, but never to be completely cured.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
