Rep. Duncan Hunter removes painting depicting police as pigs
posted at 1:21 pm on January 6, 2017 by John Sexton

Rep. Duncan Hunter removed a controversial painting from a hallway which connects to the U.S. Capitol Friday. The painting depicts a street protest with people holding signs including “racism kills.” One protester in the foreground has the head of a wolf or a dog and is giving a black power salute. Two police officers, depicted as pigs, are pointing guns at the protester. Fox News’ Chad Pergram posted a photo of the painting on Twitter:

GOP lawmaker removes painting depicting police as pigs

A House Republican on Friday personally removed a controversial painting that depicts police officers as feral pigs in a hallway connecting to the Capitol.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) stripped the painting, which depicts a confrontation between police and African-Americans, off the wall of a highly trafficked tunnel between the Capitol and two House office buildings Friday morning, spokesman Joe Kasper told The Hill.

The painting had been displayed near a Capitol Police screening checkpoint and had drawn ire from law enforcement organizations offended by the depiction.

It was displayed as part of an annual art competition sponsored by House members' offices. Rep. Lacy Clay's (D-Mo.) office awarded it a first place prize last summer, which grants it a spot in the Capitol complex that hundreds of lawmakers, staff and visitors pass by each day.

Hunter, an Iraq War veteran and early supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, returned the painting to Clay's office on Friday morning. Clay's office confirmed the account but did not make the lawmaker available for comment.

There are areas of our country that the police do not go.  These are typically Muslim dominated areas called NO GO zones.  Dearborn, MI is one example of a city with a section populated largely by those who follow Sharia Law and the police essentially stay away from that section.

Europe is big on NO GO zones.  Plenty of newspaper accounts are available that illustrate how well that is going for them.

I predict that soon we will see a showdown somewhere in America where a police commissioner announces they refuse to go into black areas where they are not wanted.  It would be an easy case to make.  The commissioner would run down a list of reasons for refusing to go including: not being wanted by the residents, not receiving support for the city council, and not receiving support from politicians higher up the ladder.  Those higher up the ladder include state reps, those in Congress and top law enforcement officials at the Justice Dept.

This will set off a firestorm of course, but it is coming.  And it's really not at all that hard to predict.  It is the next natural progression of all the many politician's war against police.

Without the hotbeds to foment violence in, it is difficult to justify the sort of policy and legislation that deprives the law abiding of their rights. Fear is good for bidness.

The police don't deserve this racist driven characterization, especially when they are the ones who keep the more feral elements in our society in check.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
