'Our community is counting on us as the last line of defense between Donald Trump and the worst of what America could offer,' one African-American lawmaker says.

After eight years of the nation’s first African-American president, black lawmakers were in for an adjustment no matter who won the White House.

But members of the Congressional Black Caucus say they’re bracing for the worst in Donald Trump, fearing a presidency that could set minorities back decades.

Leaders of the group told POLITICO they have already begun discussing strategies to deal with Trump and any policies they believe would disenfranchise African-Americans — from public school funding to low-income housing to voting restrictions. Though the president-elect’s supporters call the alarm unwarranted, black lawmakers say Trump’s campaign and his Cabinet picks more than justify their concern.

The funny thing about all of these 'we'll fight Trump on the beaches' stories is the implication that liberals haven't been resisting tooth and nail anything not sufficiently liberal for decades now.

Good grief, its not as if they've ever been gracious about losing. Llying, ranting, sabotaging, kicking & screaming has been elevated to a high art form by these folks.

There is going to be a lot of resistance to Trump from not just the liberals but also from those within his own party.  It's how he deals with the resistance that's either going to make or break him.  If he simply leads and shows how a more conservative approach is working rather than insult people through childish tantrums and tweets IMHO this country will move forward.  If he continues with his antics and arrogance of the past, he'll only continue the divide in this country and we'll see a backlash like never seen before in this country from both side of the aisle.

Maybe they should start with their own policies.  Thanks to them many people of color are uneducated, jobless, homeless and completely dependent on government for their very survival.  They refuse to let the "darkies" leave the plantation.
