Who is still alive now from the Andy Griffith Show besides Ron Howard?  I think there can't be too many others.

@Applewood

Believe it or not, Barney's girlfriend "Thelma Lou" (Betty Lynn) is still alive, at 91.

And so is Andy's first-season squeeze, Elinor "Ellie" Walker (Elinor Donahue), at 80.

Some of the minor characters and kids are still alive, too.

Yup.  Jack Burns is still alive, at 84.  I didn't know this...he worked with George Carlin once.

Sir Elton John 'in shock' as mother dies
By Mark Savage BBC Music reporter

Sir Elton John says he is "in shock" after the death of his mother, Sheila Farebrother, just months after their reconciliation.

"So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning," he said on his Facebook page, alongside a photo of them together.

I had forgotten about Jack Burns.  Didn't know he once worked with George Carlin.  Growing up, I used to see Burns with another partner, Avery Schreiber.  Burns & Schreiber appeared on nearly every variety or talk show back in those days.

Leftie Republican who angered many in 1980.

By the time he was supporting Barack Obama, nobody cared.

Oh yes. I do. Everyone in my hometown voted for him. He carried our town. - it's a fact. He was 95.

He was the very epitome of a 3rd party kook.

He supported Nader in 2000

He supported a Progressive Social-democrat for President in 2012.

Yep, I know who he is.

He was best known as the dad of  Dennis the Menace before he entered politics.

Your chain has been yanked.

Herbert Anderson played Dennis' father.  He was also one of several actors in Jack Webb's stable playing several different parts in Dragnet.

Sigh.  Pete, I'm a very literal person.  And, it's "daughter" not "son".    :silly:

Herbert Anderson played Dennis' father.  He was also one of several actors in Jack Webb's stable playing several different parts in Dragnet.
Herb Anderson also played John Hammond, Sr. in that badly-bowdlerised film
The Benny Goodman Story which had Steve Allen (who actually did
look a little like Goodman) in the title role and Donna Reed as the Alice
Hammond who married Goodman. The bowdlerising only began with
the fact that, unlike in the film, Goodman didn't play "Memories of You"
at Carnegie Hall as a way to propose to her . . .
