I don't expect to see Congress stop him.

Heck, McConnell can't even be motived to really investigate the Russian involvement in our elections.  He's passed that off to the Senate committees on Intelligence and Defense to work on whenever they have the spare time.

Tariffs are taxes and as such can ONLY be created in the House of Representatives (Obamacare being the exception).

I wonder how much Rush is going to have to twist to explain this one.

Today he was once again defending a Trump stimulus package because Trump would do it differently than what we've ever seen before.  It reminded me so much of the lefties who say that the only reason communism/socialism hasn't worked yet is because it was done incorrectly, done by the wrong entity/person, or under the wrong circumstances.

The tax wouldn't be on the American people, would be on the products of foreign companies sending the goods here.  King dictator Trump thinks he can do whatever he wants.  If he was able to put a tariff (tax) on those foreign companies, they would raise the price of the product, the tariff would also be added to the product, and the American people would find all the products they now get for a relatively low price, would cost so much, their standard of living would go down because they couldn't afford to buy as many products as they do now.

Trump will lower the standard of living people now have.

Even Trump said it will natrally raise costs of some products a little but I'm betting that what he thinks of as "a little" is a very different thing than what I think of as "a little".

@jpsb if you think we are going to have massive amount of jobs like we use too.. Not going to happen. A lot of factory jobs nowadays by automation and more factory jobs can be replaced by automation.

A lot of jobs in steel have been heavily automated for a long time anyway. A friend of mine was pretty severely burned some 30 years ago when he got in the way of a self driving forklift carrying freshly rolled steel bars.
