Chuck Schumer Just LOVES Trump's Trillion Dollar Infrastructure Plan

Incoming Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer is utterly delighted with President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed trillion-dollar infrastructure plan, although he has some demands in addition to the gigantic investment.

Schumer told ABC News' Jon Karl and Rick Klein on their podcast Powerhouse Politics,  “We think it should be large. He’s mentioned a trillion dollars. I told him that sounded good to me . . . We’re not going to oppose something simply because it has the name Trump on it, but we will certainly not sacrifice our principles just to get something done.”

Schumer also said his position on trade is closer to Trump’s than it was to his predecessors, saying, “I’m more close to that than I am to Barack Obama or George Bush’s, and so are a lot of Democrats.z

One Democrat close to Schumer told Politico that Schumer won’t go to war with Trump, instead attempting to manipulate him as best he can: “He will leave that to the external groups, and look for ways to work together. He will start from what's the end point and work backwards. He certainly won’t close off that type of conversation. He'll be open to conversation. He will pick his spots and find places to stand up to Trump and fight till the last dog dies.”

Schumer said soon after the election, “If he is going to agree on issues like trade and transportation infrastructure in a very real way with us, we have an obligation to pursue it,” adding the tacit threat, “We are saying, ‘Mr. President you have two choices: Work with us and you will have to alienate your Republican colleagues, or break your promises to blue-collar America.”

But as Michael Tanner noted in National Review, Trump's huge spending plan is a mistake:
