Perhaps we can get Congress to support the California secessionists. Let them go peacefully, so long as they agree to keep the U.S. dollar as their currency for at least 25 years, have a free-trade and freedom-of-movement agreement with still-United States, and to allow plebiscites in counties bordering other states on whether to remain in seceded California or join the neighboring state, repeating with counties that then neighbor the newly-expanded states until no contiguous county wants to stay in the Union. (Too many supply chains go through California, so we want them out of the political structure without breaking economic ties, and it would be a shame to force the conservative farmers, ranchers and loggers in non-urban CA to stay with the coastal lunatics.)
