Retired Gen. John Kelly is not entirely on-message with the president-elect's rhetoric on Mexican immigrants and Muslim terrorists.....

...He told Congress during the primaries that illegal immigration from Mexico was tapering off. He's fretted about "the terrible things" that happen to thousands of undocumented immigrant children on their journey — "particularly the young ladies on the way up." And he calls drug-related violence a far greater threat to Americans than Islamic terrorists......

There's a lot of wishful thinking from the left in that article.

Kelly is a huge advocate of securing the border.  He's spoken about that not only in the context of drugs, but during the ebola scare as well.  Anyone thinking he'll be anything other than a border hawk will be sorely disappointed.

This is a typical tactic from the left.  Start a campaign saying that someone is expected to be more moderate and "reasonable" in the hope of pressuring them into actually acting that way.

Kelly is a thoughtful guy who won't support dumb ideas, but he's also a border security hawk whom the left won't be able to pressure or manipulate.
