Clinton campaign supports briefing Electoral College on Russian interference

John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, says her campaign supports the request of some Electoral College members for an intelligence briefing about possible Russian interference in the presidential election.

“Electors have a solemn responsibility under the Constitution and we support their efforts to have their questions addressed,” Podesta said in a statement Monday.

He was responding to an open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper written by 10 electors (nine Democrats and one Republican) and posted on Medium. The electors wrote about their concern about the U.S. intelligence community’s assertion -- made with “high confidence”-- that Russia “acted covertly to interfere in the presidential campaign with the intent of promoting Donald Trump’s candidacy” and about Mr. Trump’s rejection of the intelligence community’s judgment.

I concur.  Electoral voters should be briefed on how the Russians were able to breach secure State Department servers that were set up by federal statute to secure and contain all correspondence of the Secretary of State.

Heads should roll over this.  They need to find the person who violated these server security protocols and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

US director of national intelligence James Clapper is the latest high profile victim of a hack attack. His home telephone, internet and personal email accounts were breached by a group of teenagers who call themselves Crackas With Attitude.

According to news website Motherboard, the same group had made headlines in October last year, after it gained access to CIA director John Brennan's email account along with several online tools and portals used by US law enforcement agencies. The hackers' exploits had at the time prompted the FBI to issue an alert, warning government officials of the breach.

In the recent attack, Clapper's wife's personal email account was also breached. The hackers allegedly accessed Clapper's Verizon account and forwarded all incoming calls to the Free Palestine Movement.

Director of national intelligence spokesperson Brian Hale said: "We are aware of the matter and have notified the appropriate authorities." The hackers apparently gained access to Clapper's Verizon account and proceeded to alter the settings so that all of Clapper's incoming calls would automatically be forwarded to the Free Palestine Movement, The Guardian reported.

What about interference in the primary that screwed Bernie? Or is Hillary selective on what she wants briefed?

Priceless.
