Venezuela seizes toys seen as overpriced, will distribute to poor
Quote
Millions of poor children in Venezuela will reportedly be getting an extra surprise this holiday season: toys seized by the socialist government from Venezuela's largest toy distributor.

Venezuela's fair pricing authority seized nearly 4 million toys from three warehouses run by the private company Kreisel on Friday, as agency director William Contreras alleged that the company had underreported its inventory so it could sell toys at higher prices. Two company executives suspected of promoting price speculation were additionally detained.

The seizure, Mr. Contreras said, would show companies "that you can't play with the rights of Venezuelans."

Well, the seizure was a punishment for the toy company trying to cheat the system.  It's a good move too.  I bet they won't underreport their inventory any more.

Are you for real? The entire system in Venezuela is corrupt. The place is run by a retarded bus driver. People are eating the zoo animals and race horses to stay alive and you are giving the Commie Regime a thumbs up for destroying one of the few enterprises left in the country?

Since when does the size of your inventory set the price?

Does that mean gold should be cheaper from some company that has a lot of it?

And what right does the government have to seize the inventory in the first place?
Much less redistribute it. Sounds like a bunch of wannabe Robbing Hoods to me.

How exactly was the toy company trying to cheat the system?

Was it a good thing when Madero and Chavez before him just went out and seized private businesses and forced electronics stores to give away things like TV's?

I've always seen the ability to stockpile inventory as a good thing. Unfortunately its discouraged in this country by oppressive taxation which encourages factories to hide inventory.

Every 3 months factories across the country stop production for a day, load everything they can on to tractor trailers and move the trailers off the property so the parts can be listed as "In Transit". Trailers of neighboring factories will be in each other's parking lots for a day.

That depends on whether it was in accordance with applicable law or not.  That being said, it appears more politically motivated than anything else, which makes it not so good.
