Quote
Why is our planet shaking so violently all of a sudden? There have literally been dozens of significant earthquakes right along the Ring of Fire within the past 30 days, and two giant ones made headlines all over the globe on Thursday. First, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the coast of Humboldt County, California, and that was followed later in the day by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in the Solomon Islands. But of course these latest earthquakes are just the latest examples of increased shaking along the outer perimeter of the Pacific Ocean. Experts are not quite sure what to make of all of this shaking, but they are warning that “the Big One” could strike the west coast at literally any time.
.
. . .
Subsequently, that earthquake was followed by 20 extremely large aftershocks that all fell into a range between magnitude 4.8 and magnitude 6.5. All of this violent seismic activity seems to have shook the entire planet to at least some degree, because monitoring stations all over the world were experiencing strange “vibrations” as aftershock after aftershock shook the Solomon Islands.
.
. . .
And Fox News recently reported that a major study has concluded that it is likely that someday the 800-mile-long San Andreas fault “could unzip all at once”…
.
For years, scientists believed the mighty San Andreas—the 800-mile-long fault running the length of California where the Pacific and North American plates meet—could only rupture in isolated sections.
.
But a recent study by federal, state and academic researchers showed that much of the fault could unzip all at once, unleashing a rare, singular catastrophe. Now, insurers have used that research to come up with a new analysis of the damage that could be caused by statewide break of the San Andreas.
.
I don’t know about you, but to me that does not sound good.
.
. . .
Unfortunately, the cold, hard science tells us a much different story. According to the top experts in the field, the San Andreas fault is way overdue for a historic earthquake…
.
Experts have warned that the fault line has been quiet for far too long and is due to erupt at any time.
.
. . .
.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
.
Evidently the new evidence is serious enough that the insurance companies are re-evaluating their coverage, fees, exposure . . . etc.
.
Given WW3 . . . Big quakes . . . terror attacks . . . I wonder how many insurance companies are going to be remotely solvent. Though I don't think they cover acts of war . . . And they are not usually on the short end of the money piles.

Is this really an "alternate realities" post, or did you put it in your forum because you want it in a place where you can set the rules?

Sorry for asking, but after yesterday's diktat, I have to wonder...

I'm guessing you may immediately delete this response as "uncivil" or somesuch, but it's not intended to be. It just seems like this has nothing to do with Alternate Realities.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

It could go elsewhere.

I put a lot of things here because they fit under my notion of Alternate Realities.

QUAKES are a major feature of the Biblical END TIMES.

They are also part of conspiracy ideas in terms of the purported capacities of the oligarchy to trigger quakes with Tesla sorts of technologies.

And, a lot of naysayers seem to love to gritch at almost any quake thread as though it were a conspiracy issue. So why not put them here, to begin with.

Beyond that, I think you may not have thought through my goals and stances in terms of the boundaries very well.

I prefer to let people post fairly freely. I just want to limit, minimize the virulent personally insulting and assaultive junk. That's actually against the rules for the whole site. It's certainly against the rules for this forum. And, it was getting out of control for various reasons.

OK - fair enough, but when I saw this was an earthquake article, I thought to perhaps come comment on it as it relates to California and possible national news. When I saw it in Alternate Realities, I thought that others will be less inclined to join to commentary. Frankly, yesterday's diktat felt a lot like the dueling debate threads on this site, where one thread was "open" and the other thread was basically a "Trump safe space only." You may have noticed that the open thread was more popular by a fair margin.

Take that as constructive criticism. Don't be afraid to post your alternate realities stuff. I look at it occasionally even if I don't post on them often. They're a curious diversion for me.

Just be aware that almost ANY topic on this site is likely to generate some controversy. I've seen some healthy debate on the threads for the knife wielding kid who got shot, Trump nominees, and even my investment thread.

Controversy is fine with me.

I often learn more from those who disagree than from those who merely agree quietly.

What I find super offensive is crass, vile, offensive, assaultive, abusive person-hood attacking stuff against character, sanity, personalities, individuals. I think FR's old RM's notion of not making it personal is a reasonably close standard to what I'm getting at.

A lot of people feel like "something big" is coming... maybe an earthquake or series of quakes, maybe something like Yellowstone going off.  In the 90s there were a number of "seers" and "prophets" predicting what were called "Earth changes", predicted to take place by 2000, or 2012. Of course they didn't happen in that time frame.  But, the Earth has had periods of extreme vulcanism and other such activity in the past, there's nothing to say that it couldn't happen again in the future.
Let it burn.

Indeed.

Certainly big things are looming.

I don't know of any prophetic sources which have had timing right.

However, folks who think that life will go on largely as it has for centuries are in for some very very rude awakenings.

Super traumas and destructions will take place one after another with little time between to recover.

We have been warned repeatedly.

The graphs of increasing evidence are certainly on an upward slope.

Just because it happens so incrementally like the frog in the pot, folks seem quite willing and gifted at dismissing it all as of no concern.

Quix: Bob, the Earth Scientist/Geologist, says, the Ring of Fire is named that because it IS a Ring of Fire, and when earth plates move somewhere along that ring, creating an earthquake, the energy moving the plates keeps moving them around the entire Ring if the initial energy is strong enough.  He knows where the plates are along the entire west coast and into the ocean.  Using superior seismology technology he developed, he plotted the earth/ocean depths along the entire west coast discovering huge oil fields that are producing today.   He knows those plates are going to move when there is enough pent up energy to cause the move.

When is it going to happen?  Bob doesn't know but his ears perk up when he hears of these huge earthquakes happening now, moving around the Ring.

I wouldn't want to live in California, however, remember Nancy Pelosi lives in San Francisco.....

Absolutely indeed.

Thanks. Fascinating.

Where on the West Coast does Bob think will likely zip open first?

What does he think about the juncture at the South end of the San Andreas and the one just to the South at the Salton Sea?

How about the Juan de Fuca area?

I'd love to pick hubby Bob's brain on a lot of things.

Is he familiar with the Aztec crash . . . and the oil field realities and hoaxes and tech  that became associated with  that UFO crash?

I certainly agree about Nancy Poo Lousy.

OK, I have picked Bob's brain on the subjects you mentioned and taken notes.

Your question: "Where on the West Coast does Bob think will likely zip open first?"

He took seismic data of the entire west coast, earth and ocean, including up through Oregon and Washington state.  First, there are "tensors" - which are directional forces under the earth and under the ocean.  These tensors are measured using certain instruments and are being measured today to determine where areas of directional forces are building or lessening.  A model of these tensors give an idea where the greatest forces are and how they are changing over time.

He gives as an example, north of the Santa Maria Basin is an area where the beds are folded, called the Chevron Folds.  These are off shore.  Some of these folds are tighter than others and the tighter the folds the more directional tensor force is there.  If the  force by itself (considering only the force) caused a break there would be an earthquake and the earthquake would also be under land from the directional force.  However, if, under the folds there is a smooth surface, the folds wouldn't break and no earthquake would happen.  This is to show how many factors have to be included to determine what is going to happen.  This is why Bob can't predict and neither can anyone else predict, the exact combination of earth/ocean "physics" which would cause a break at a specified time.

Your question: "What does he think about the juncture at the South end of the San Andreas Fault and the one just to the South at the Salton Sea?"

He says the physics of the earth/ocean there is such that neither I nor you would understand it if he wrote it down.  It is an area of concern.

Your question:  "How about the Juan de Fuca area?"

He said the San Andreas Fault runs off shore and becomes the Juan de Fuca Ridge - it is part of the San Andreas Fault.  Once again, the physics is complicated but the area is a concern.

The Tehachapi mountain range also intersects with the San Andreas Fault and the concern here is due to plates and subplates off shore.  I suppose that means if the San Andereas Fault breaks, that mountain range is also in danger of moving.

Now, let's go north:
He says:  Off the northern part of Oregon through Washington state, off shore and under ground, he measured huge lava fields that were 10,000 feet thick and down to 20,000 feet thick (he said to tell you there is no oil there **nononono*).  These lava fields created Mount St. Helens and Mt. Hood.

In conclusion, God created the universe and it doesn't stand still, is in movement all the time.  Man does his best to understand it and try to predict the future, but there are limits to his knowledge.  The complexities of earth and ocean topography, the earth's plates and sub-plates and forces therein and under are beyond our ability to predict what they will do when.  Bob and I both use the Grand Canyon to realize the enormous power of God to create such on the earth.

Tomorrow, I'll tell you a story of Bob and his geology buddies when they were graduate geology students at the Grand Canyon and ordered to leave.

Forgot this one:  You asked, "Is he familiar with the Aztec crash . . . and the oil field realities and hoaxes and tech  that became associated with  that UFO crash?"

No, he knows nothing.

When we travel, I get lessons on every different sort of topography we are traveling - what kind of rocks those are on that hill/mountain and where they came from, etc..

THANKS THANKS for Bob's kind answers and your relaying them.

If he wants a Kindle copy of the Aztec crash book, I'd be willing to gift it if you PM me a usable email.

It's an exhaustively researched book . . . with some intrigue about a magnetic tech for finding oil as well as subs . . .

Certainly agree about God etc.

Am eager to hear the Grand Canyon story.

Did they find any "Egyptian artifacts" there? Supposedly that's a hoax but I've always wondered. I worked at the Grand Canyon for Emery Clifford Kolb one summer. He lived on the edge of the Canyon at the head of Bright Angel trail since 1904.

About time to move toward bed.

Hugs, Prayers,
THX THX.
