Actually a lot simpler than hacking. All they have to do is flood social media with false pro trump stories from false news sites in eastern Europe. Lord knows I must have blocked a thousand Russian trolls on Twitter.  We called them "Peggys".

Well, yes.

The point was that if North Korea can do serious damage to a major company in the US, how much more competent is Russia?

We know for a fact that Russia has formidable propaganda capabilities. Paul Manafort's Russian connections should be a concern to all. He may be a simple PR man but PR is propaganda.

Two points!

1. It wasn't "for nothing"!

2. The only reason it has dragged on for fifteen years is OBAMA!

Like hell. Bush should have wrapped that thing up BEFORE there was a Presidential change. The reason we got Obama is because that damn war drug on and on and on. If you recall there was a referendum on that war in '06 where we lost congress and another when a loser Socialist won the WH.

I also do not see anything now that was worth the trouble of doing it. At the time I was gung ho on this concept of regime building in the Middle East. Thought it was a nifty idea. Now I look around over there and I see nothing worth all the death, money and effort.

We were also told we would be safe at home if we did this. Looking around I see people getting shot at Christmas parties, gay guy killed while Voguing and runners getting blown up. All this while the NSA knows what type of kinky sex I'm into and what brand of snow tires I just bought online. The whole thing was nothing but shit.

None of what you complain about was W's fault.  Lay it at the feet of Obama and the left, but Iraq was pretty well on the way to being successfully concluded before Obama screwed it up.  Ditto protection at home.  All the rest, Obama's fault.  You really need to pay more attention to what goes on around you.

Are these the same folks who told us about WMD's in Iraq?

They are the same ones that missed the breakup of the USSR, that prompted Obama to refer to ISIS as Junior Varsity, and required ten years to find and kill bin Laden.

Fake news, about fake news.

Foreign governments have been influencing our elections for years, most of it to the benefit of the left. Anybody who obsesses on this so called example, just because Obama's CIA says that it's true, is being naive.

Sorry, I had left out a phrase when I posted my response.

I meant to post:

The point was that if North Korea can do serious damage to a major company in the US, how much more damage can be done considering how competent Russia is?

This looks to be the new modus operandi of the Trump supporter, to use the label "fake news" not when the news is fake, but when they don't like it.

That the CIA has released their assessment on Russian interference in the US election is not in doubt.  This Trump supporter is just unhappy at what it revealed.

You do know that there were WMDs in Iraq, right?  The Russians removed large amounts of chemical WMDs to Syria just before the US invasion, but we found pretty large caches of yellow cake and refined uranium.

Note that those caches were accounted for and tagged by the IAEA.

Analysis: The CIA concluded Russia worked to elect Trump. Republicans now face an impossible choice.

<..snip..>

Already, House Democrats have begun pushing for something akin to the 9/11 Commission to look into allegations of Russian meddling. During the campaign, they pushed for hearings on the same issue.

Until this week, they'd been unable to get much buy-in from congressional Republicans. But Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., voiced support Wednesday for a probe, and now Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain, R-Ariz., says he is working with Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., on a wide-ranging Senate probe, as The Post's Karoun Demirjian reported Thursday.

"I'm going after Russia in every way you can go after Russia," Graham said. "I think they're one of the most destabilizing influences on the world stage. I think they did interfere with our elections, and I want (Russian President Vladimir) Putin personally to pay the price."

But even as these probes start to materialize, Trump is singing a far different tune. In his interview with Time magazine for his "Person of the Year" award, Trump suggested the interference could just as well have come from someone in New Jersey as from the Russian government.

I'm gonna need some evidence on this one.

Remember that even Mike Pence thought there was evidence...

Joe Walsh is right and he's a Trump guy.

There is no upside in trying to ignore this and hope it goes away.

What was disturbing to me was the Trump transition team's statement on this.

Lord knows that a lot of us raised the alarm about Russian trolls manipulating social media (and they're surging again) and guys like Paul Manafort being too close to Russia. And now Russian nutcase Aleksandr Dugin is declaring that "We have Washington now".

Obama is the first US President to lose a war that had already been won.

Yep! he definitely unwon that one!

Exclusive: Top U.S. spy agency has not embraced CIA assessment on Russia hacking - sources
By Mark Hosenball and Jonathan Landay | WASHINGTON
Quote
The overseers of the U.S. intelligence community have not embraced a CIA assessment that Russian cyber attacks were aimed at helping Republican President-elect Donald Trump win the 2016 election, three American officials said on Monday.

While the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) does not dispute the CIA's analysis of Russian hacking operations, it has not endorsed their assessment because of a lack of conclusive evidence that Moscow intended to boost Trump over Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, said the officials, who declined to be named.

The position of the ODNI, which oversees the 17 agency-strong U.S. intelligence community, could give Trump fresh ammunition to dispute the CIA assessment, which he rejected as "ridiculous" in weekend remarks, and press his assertion that no evidence implicates Russia in the cyber attacks.

Trump's rejection of the CIA's judgment marks the latest in a string of disputes over Russia's international conduct that have erupted between the president-elect and the intelligence community he will soon command.

An ODNI spokesman declined to comment on the issue.

"ODNI is not arguing that the agency (CIA) is wrong, only that they can't prove intent," said one of the three U.S. officials. "Of course they can't, absent agents in on the decision-making in Moscow."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, whose evidentiary standards require it to make cases that can stand up in court, declined to accept the CIA's analysis - a deductive assessment of the available intelligence - for the same reason, the three officials said. ...

Until I see evidence I cannot believe anything.

There is no evidence, this is just another plot by the Marxist to overturn a free and fair election. Wiki leaks has already said the emails they released did not come from Russia and strongly hinted that the emails came from a DNC staffer. One thing we know for sure is that Russia did not write those emails. And it was the CONTENTS of the emails that help sink Hillary, the DNC and the legacy media.
