Using the same skill set he employed during the presidential campaign, President-Elect Trump has crafted another public drama around a storyline of his choosing. A highly predictable story arc – a series of subplots that unfold as time passes – is in store for the public.

However, I imagine that Lifson is extolling the virtues of Trump's multiverse chess skills and ooohhhh, isn't it grand how wonderful Trump is?
Unfortunately, Trump and Obama are soulmates in this regard: what makes a demagogue a successful presidential candidate, does not correspond to what is necessary for a successful presidency.
A successful president must say what he will do, and do what he says he will do. And for that reason, to be careful about what he says.
Counter to that, Trump's MO is to say something stupid and then backtrack -- a perfect recipe for frittering away whatever trust and respect is left to the US after Obama spent 8 years doing the same thing.
