One of Donald Trump's aides has lost his job after fanning a conspiracy theory that climaxed at the weekend in gunfire at a pizzeria.

Michael Flynn, 33, resigned from the US president-elect's transition team on Tuesday following his tweets about the so-called Pizzagate fake news story.

His father, Michael Flynn Snr, Mr Trump's pick to be US national security adviser, has also shared fake news.

Pretty disturbing actually. The age old skill of discernment is being lost. Sadly, it seems worse on our side, maybe because Obama is President so people want to believe the worst about their enemy.  Stuff like this would have been mocked and dismissed BO (Before Obama).

Unfortunately I fear things are going to get much worse before they get better. We have a president and others in his administration who have no filter and will inspire nuts to act. After all we've already seen one guy show up at the pizza shop who fired a round in his search for the captive children.

Part of it, I believe, is that liberals do tend to require sources for anything claimed in a news/opinion article.  Which forces the writer to research their point of view.  Naturally, they find leftist sources, but if those sources refute their claim, then they don't make it.

Whereas on the right, there is no sourcing anymore.  Anyone can write anything and it's the 'holy gospel'... for it came from a website that speaks to the right side of the political spectrum. 

No sources, no checking accuracy, no background information, no adjusting one's arguments to that information.  Just say it and spray it.
