Biden raises possibility of 2020 presidential bid
By Jordan Fabian - 12/05/16 07:12 PM EST

Vice President Biden on Monday raised the possibility of a presidential bid in 2020.

“I am going to run in 2020,” Biden told a group of reporters in the Capitol when asked about his political future. “What the hell man, anyway.”

Good luck with that Joe. You will be pushing 80 by the time the next election rolls around. If you think you got your ass handed to you the las 20 times you ran, this one should be a doozy.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing.  Uncle Joe will be pushing 80...perhaps he thinks it's his turn and will have boatloads of super delegates waiting in the wings for him.  Gee, maybe Hillary can be his VP!!   :silly:

Yeah, but Obama will be stitting around doing nothing. One can not be elected for President for than twice, but they can certainly move into the spot after a sudden death/retirement/disappearance if they were VP.

Actually, no they can't.  From the 12th Amendment: "But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."  From the 22nd Amendment: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."  So an ex-president who served two terms is ineligible to be vice-president.

The thought sickens me.

That says he can be be President. He was elected twice but not acted as President for some other person for more than 2 years. The key word is "elected". He can serve out Bidens term, but cannot be elected to the office again.

No, he can't.  If Biden left office after serving more than two years, you might be able to make the argument, but since that can't be guaranteed (that the VP would only be called on to serve less than 2 years of the term) Obama would be ineligible for VP.

Obama's feckless rule has caused Dem wipeouts in both off-year elections,  and allowed the GOP to retain the Senate this year against all odds.  In 2018 it will be the Dems' turn to shiver in their boots at the odds of avoiding more Senate losses.

Where's the young blood?    The Dems don't need Joe Biden to run for President in four years,  they need to develop new faces, including ones that are less strident ideologically.   Folks like, say, Corey Booker.

And their queen bee, the 76-year-old Nancy Pelosi.

Even she is shocked.

Saw a few days ago, that the dems leaders are in mid 70s, while Republican leaders are in mid 40s.

So Biden fits the scenario, to a "T" and they recently reelected Pelosi over a younger guy that really "got it."

The way the dems are going, with Keith Ellison, they don "get it."
