Gingrich: Trump has no obligation to hold news conferences

Not holding press conferences doesn't mean the media won't report the story, you'll just have less control over how the story is reported. You either steer the story or the story steers you.

And he has no obligation to tweet, either.

Or speak, or defecate, or get dressed, or eat food, or...

... just about anything at all.

It's just that there are negative consequences for not doing so. 

Not eating gives you starvation.
Not defecating gives you a ruptured rectum.
Not holding press conferences destroys your ability to shape your message.
