Sunday, November 20, 2016 07:03 PM
After a day of back-to-back meetings, President-elect Donald Trump said a "couple of deals" were made, but made no announcement before leaving his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club.
"Mr. Trump, are you announcing any appointments tonight?" a reporter shouted as Trump prepared to enter his vehicle to leave the grounds.
"Well, we made a couple of deals, but we'll let you know soon," Trump responded.
Earlier, Trump called New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie "a very talented man." But he is would not say if there is a place for him in his administration.
Christie was one of a parade of officials visiting Trump Sunday. Christie, a former candidate for president, was an early backer of Trump. But he was recently demoted as head of Trump's transition effort. It is now not clear how big a role Christie is now playing.
His diminished role came after two former aides were convicted in the George Washington Bridge political revenge plot. Christie denies wrongdoing and wasn't charged in the 2013 scandal.
Christie recently said he plans to finish his term, which ends in 2018.
Trump also met with former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Black Entertainment Television founder Robert Johnson, conservative writer John Gray, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, private equity firm founder Wilbur Ross, Bridgewater Associates president David McCormick.
