CNN’s Brian Stelter started off today’s Reliable Sources by tackling the issue of Donald Trump‘s tweets trashing the cast of Hamilton for their message to Mike Pence and whether the media is blowing it way out of proportion.

New CNN contributor Salena Zito said that average Americans she spoke to had no problem with the cast’s message, but had a problem with Pence being booed.

Shapiro, meanwhile, acknowledged that conservatives who like Trump ripping Hamilton should think about if they would like it if, say, President Obama was “lecturing NASCAR fans” on Twitter.

But that being said, Shapiro argued that if the media is going to “turn it all the way up to 11 on a Hamilton tweet,” then it’s gonna be a long four years. He said the media’s at risk of blowing its credibility by focusing so much on Trump’s tweets...
