President-elect Donald Trump ripped into New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in a phone conversation shortly before removing him from the head of his transition team, according to a new report.
Trump expressed worries about Christie's involvement in the Bridgegate scandal and disappointment in his job performance on the transition team, Politico reported Saturday.
Shortly after the phone call, Vice President-elect Mike Pence replaced Christie atop the transition team, and several Christie allies were removed from Trump's orbit.
The president-elect was reportedly unhappy with the number of lobbyists that Christie had on the transition team, as well as his choice to fill the staff with his own friends and loyalists.
Trump also found Christie unprepared when it came to vetting potential administration picks and examining potential conflicts of interest, the report said.
In addition, several reports have said Christie was deeply disliked by Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who became an influential advisor to Trump throughout his presidential campaign.
