TOURISTS in Dubai are being advised not to report rapes to the police after a British woman was arrested for reporting being gang-raped.

Dubai is a popular destination for western tourists

Authorities, who allowed the two men she said was responsible for the attack to leave the country, shockingly claimed she had taken part in "extramarital sex".

Detained in Dubai, a group which helps Westerners who fall victims to the Islamic country's draconian laws, said authorities have "racist" ideas about tourists and are guilty of "manipulation when it comes to criminal accusations."

Radha Stirling, the founder of the charity said: "We get people contacting us asking whether they should report a crime and - whether it be a rape or anything else - I often say no. Absolutely not."
